The Breaking Point: Unmasking Inner Demons We Hide | Day 5 - Delivered, Clothed, & in Our Right Mind

There was a man so tormented that no chain could hold him. He lived among the tombs, cutting himself, screaming through the night. Everyone had given up on him. And then Jesus showed up.

Father, thank You for carrying us through this entire week and for bringing us to this final day of studying about these demons we hide. Thank You for every truth You have shown us and every place You have touched in our hearts. Today, we ask for full deliverance and full freedom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We've spent four days naming what hides in the dark - anger, rage, hate, jealousy, unforgiveness, offense. Today, we don't just name it; we release it. Because awareness without deliverance just leaves you informed and still bound. But hear this today: God wants us to be free.

There is a man in the Gospels who gives us the clearest picture in all of Scripture of what full deliverance looks like, before and after.

"And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him." — Luke 8:30 (KJV)

Legion. Not one spirit, but many. This lines up with everything we've studied. Very seldom does a person carry just one thing. Anger invites rage. Rage invites hate. Hate invites jealousy. And unforgiveness feeds all of them. They travel together, until a person no longer recognizes themselves.

Luke 8:35 (KJV) says, "Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid."

Clothed. In his right mind. Sitting, not running, not raging, not hiding among the tombs anymore.

Long before this man sat clothed at Jesus' feet, the prophet Zechariah was shown a courtroom scene that explains exactly what deliverance looks like from heaven's side.

Zechariah 3:1-4 (KJV), "And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan... Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments... Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment."

Joshua the high priest stood accused, dressed in filthy garments - a picture of shame, not innocence. But God didn't argue with the accusation. He simply changed the garments. The same word “clothed” shows up centuries later at the feet of Jesus. Deliverance has always looked the same: filthy garments removed, not covered.

Judges 6:25-27 (KJV), "And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock... and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath... Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, by day, that he did it by night."

Before Gideon ever led an army, God told him to start at home by tearing down the altar his own father had built to a false god, because he was still afraid of what his household and city would say. Pulling down what's been built up inside of us will not feel brave in the moment. Gideon did it terrified, under cover of darkness, one obedient swing at a time.

Guess what? That still counts. That's still deliverance in motion.

And finally, Family, deliverance was never meant to end with us. Look at what Jesus told the man once he was free.

"Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee." — Mark 5:19 (KJV)

So what’s the message we should be leaving here with today?

We were not delivered to sit in silence about it. We were delivered so someone else, still living among their own tombs, still wearing their own mask, could look at us, clothed, and in our right mind, and believe it's possible for them too.

That is how this series ends: not with information, but with commission. Go tell somebody.
