How to Actually Live a New Life | Real Change Starts Here | DAY 2: REAL CHANGE

You know, here, we try to be as real as possible, right?
And so I want to begin today with this bold statement that all of us would do well to realise and accept, so that we can get to fixing those issues that are holding us back from walking in the new life God has already given us.
So we can agree: It is one thing to say we are new in Christ, but it is another thing to actually live like it.
If we are honest, many of us believe the right things, but still struggle with the same patterns, same thoughts, same reactions, and same cycles.
And so we ask: if we are new, why does life still look so familiar? The same things trigger us. We take delight in getting involved in the same gossipy conversations. We still like to hang around the same negative people.
The Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
What, therefore, is our identity? Who are we? By the grace of God and our desire for real change, we are new. No longer who we were that misrepresented Christ.
But here’s the thing: while identity can be established instantly, living it out is a process. But even here, we cannot ride on the fact that change is a process and make that an excuse to stay in our messy situations.
Scripture tells us in Colossians 3:1 (KJV): “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”
To seek means we have a part to play. This is where real transformation begins.
We don’t just accept a new identity, we pursue alignment with it. Because some of us are still living from old labels that God has already called us out of.
And this shows up in everyday life. I can testify.
We say we are forgiven, but still walk in guilt and shame. We say we trust God, but still operate in fear, afraid to step out in faith, even when we get introductions from the Lord. We say we are new, but still respond from old wounds, and we do not trust the transformative work God is doing in our lives.
In times like these, we run to the Word of God even more for direction.
Romans 12:2 (KJV): “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Transformation happens where? In the mind. Which means if the mind does not change, the life will not either. Is anybody being helped here today? This is definitely resonating with me.
Now, if we don’t get this, guess what? We will remain stuck in the same negative cycle, not because God has not done His part, but because we have not shifted the way we think.
The Word of God says in Ephesians 4:23–24 (KJV): “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Family, that means we don’t just receive the new, we put it on. We wear our God-given identity.
So every day, we choose. We choose what we think about. We choose what we entertain. We choose what we return to. These are really some big decisions.
And for many of us, real change will require letting go. Letting go of certain conversations. Letting go of certain environments. Letting go of habits that no longer align with the holy life we are aiming to live.
The Word says in Ecclesiastes 3:6 (KJV): “A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.”
Family, part of the transformation is knowing what must be released because we cannot carry old weights into a new life.
If something keeps pulling us back into old thinking, we have to limit it. If something keeps feeding what God wants us to remove, we have to step away from it.
Because again, the goal is not perfection, as no human is perfectly good or completely righteous all the time. Ecclesiastes 7:20 (KJV): “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”
Family, the goal is alignment. Isaiah 55:7 (KJV) “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord…”
As we do this daily, we feel something shifting, changing, being transformed. Truly, we can say that the things we used to do, we do them no more. The places we used to go, we no longer go there. Amen?!
The Word says in Hebrews 12:11 (KJV): “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness…”
So yes, it may feel uncomfortable at first. But over time, it produces fruit. Real change. Visible change. Sustainable change.
Family, today, Christians must not just say we are new. We must live it. And this is done one decision at a time. When we make a mistake, do not give up. Keep on keeping on for Jesus. Amen?!
