Identity & Divine Election | Eldad & Medad | Numbers 11:26–29
You told someone your dream, and they laughed. Or worse — they went quiet, gave you that look, and changed the subject. Something inside you sank. You got discouraged. And you started to rethink your idea: maybe they were right, maybe it was too big, maybe you were too ordinary.
Family, let me say this right now: that dream that you had did not come from those dream stealers, and even if someone planted an idea in your thoughts, they were not the originators if it lines up with God’s plan for your life.
So, guess what, their silence cannot take it back.
We were chosen before anybody could form an opinion about us. God did not need the approval of the church board or a committee before He placed that vision in your spirit — and He doesn't need their agreement to bring it to pass.
That’s what I am led to focus on this week. Because I strongly believe that what God has for me is for me.
In the book of Numbers 11:26–29 (KJV), we read:“But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp. And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!”
Eldad and Medad were on the list — registered, recognized. But they never made it to the official gathering. And the Spirit rested on them anyway. They prophesied right where they were. No platform. No permission. No announcement.
When Joshua heard about it, his response was exactly what some people have said about your dream, my dream: “Moses, forbid them.”
See Family, and some of us know this all too well, some people will always try to put a lid on what God is doing in someone who didn't come through the expected door, or someone who is not as intelligent as they are, or someone who can't pray or preach as well as they can.
But Moses answered: “Enviest thou for my sake? Would God that all the LORD's people were prophets!”
What I am gathering here is that once you are called by God, no matter what your race, creed, or family background, or how much money you have, once God calls you, He will equip you. Glory to God!
What is important for us to realize, Family, is that the anointing is not tied to who approved the meeting. It is not waiting for the right crowd or the right stage. These two men prophesied in the camp — in the middle of ordinary life — and heaven moved anyway. Hallelujah!
Our dreams work the same way. It doesn't need the blessing of people who overlooked us. What God has placed in us will show up where we are, while we are exactly who we are.
But of course, that's not an excuse for us to stay in any filthy situation or live in sin, but for us to recognize that God is calling us, He wants to use us anyway, and He will do the cleaning up, because we cannot do it on our own.
So, what am I saying here today: stop waiting for someone to officially release you. God put His Spirit on you. That was your invitation.
You have a dream, you have heard the voice of the Lord, move on it, despite what those closest to you who do not have faith in God and confidence in you might say.
Remember, you were chosen before they could count you out. Dream out loud and let God deliver.
Reflection: Whom have you been waiting on to release you into what God has already placed inside you?
