“Not every relationship is meant to be resurrected. Ask: Is this dead or dormant?”

Opening Prayer:

Thank You God for this another opportunity to learn more of You. As we come before You, Lord, give us clarity to know when You are calling us to release something and when You are asking us to rebuild. Remove fear from our decisions and help us trust that Your way is best. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A wise builder knows when to restore a structure and when to tear it down.

The same principle applies to life and relationships. Some things are damaged but repairable; others are beyond restoration and must be let go.

Well if you’re like me, I would take a pause on that statement, because I believe my God can repair and restore anything and anyone.

Jeremiah 32:27, “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”.

I would rephrase - But catch this: The difference is that while His power is limitless, His will and wisdom determine what He restores and what He releases. Sometimes He allows certain things to remain unrepaired because keeping them would harm us, delay our growth, or hinder His greater plan.

So let us rephrase the statement then to say: Some things are damaged but repairable; others, though God could restore them, are not meant to be restored in this season — and must be let go in obedience to His wisdom.

Ecclesiastes 3:3 (NIV) reminds us:“…a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.”

Sometimes, out of habit or hope, we keep trying to breathe life into something God has already pronounced finished. Ouch!!!

Other times, we bury something too soon because we’re unwilling to do the hard work of rebuilding. And again I say: Ouch!!!

The key Family, is discernment — listening for God’s direction.

Let us consider the difference between dead and dormant. A dead plant is gone, no matter how much you water it. A dormant plant looks lifeless but will bloom again in the right season.

Now, in relationships and callings, only God can truly tell the difference. Truth be told, some situations look so good we find it hard to resist and some people talk a really good game that we are swept up in their fakeness before we could count from 1-10.

So we have to be alert. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. God is real Family and He does not play games.

Isaiah 30:21 (ESV) says:“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”

When God says bury it, release it without guilt. Know that He has something new in store. Amen.

When He says build it, don’t stand back and watch from a distance. Roll up your sleeves and pour yourselves into it again. Reinvest your time, drench it in love, and saturate it with prayer until it reflects His glory. Hallelujah!

Of course there is a danger, because the enemy is a counterfeit, he is a liar, he doesn’t want to see anything good for God’s children.

So the danger comes when we listen to the wrong voices, when we ignore God’s Voice and keep holding on to what’s rotting or abandoning what could still thrive.

The encouragement for us today is to trust that God’s timing and wisdom are perfect. Amen!

I am trusting Lord in You, oh thou Lamb of Calvary.

Closing Prayer:

Father, help us today to walk in step with Your Spirit in every decision. Teach us to let go when You say release and to work diligently when You say build. God we trust that whatever You instruct will lead to Your best for our lives, so renew us today we pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.
