Renewable Energy vs. God’s Endless Power Source | If Man Can, What More Can God Do?

As I prepared to bring this presentation on this topic today, there was an announcement just yesterday by the government here in the Virgin Islands, BVI, that persons importing renewable and energy efficient products will be able to bring them in without paying any customs duty.

That’s a big deal.

Why? Because all around the world, nations are investing in renewable energy.

On the island of Anegada, work is being completed on a new solar system that will power the island for 19 out of the 24 hours in a day.

That’s a big deal. Less dependency on diesel generators that tend to break down often to produce electricity. Therefore, a more reliable supply of power.

Some of you may see this is operation in your countries.  Solar panels capturing the sun, turbines spinning in the wind, and dams harnessing the flow of water.

These innovations are vital, reducing dependence on limited fuels and creating sustainable ways of living. They show how far humanity has come in understanding and using God’s creation.

However, even the greatest renewable sources are finite/limited. The sun sets, the wind dies down, rivers may run dry, and power outages still take place.

So these systems are not without failures.

When the winds die down, turbines stand motionless, unable to generate electricity. When rivers run dry, hydroelectric dams produce nothing. When cloud cover lingers, solar panels fail to capture sufficient energy. And when the grid falters, entire communities sit in darkness, hospitals scramble to keep life-saving machines running, businesses shut down, and families are left without light or cooling.

So as impressive as human innovation may be, it remains vulnerable and dependent on conditions outside of our control.

Now, in contrast, God’s power never diminishes. He is the eternal Source.

The psalmist declares, “The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1, KJV).

Unlike the grids and batteries that require constant recharging, God’s strength is unending and ever-present.

Isaiah reminds us, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak… but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:29, 31, NIV).

What is the point?

Renewable energy may restore lights in a city, but only God renews the soul. Hallelujah.

Consider how Jesus describes Himself: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12, ESV).

Here’s another takeaway for today: Solar panels may absorb light for homes, but Christ gives a light that no night can overcome. Glory to God.

Without a doubt, we must admire human progress, but we should never confuse it with God’s majesty. The very elements scientists use—the sun, the wind, the water—are all created and sustained by Him.

“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen” (Romans 11:36, NLT).

What are we saying here today?

If man can create renewable power to keep the lights on for a few decades, how much more can God, the true and endless Power Source, sustain us for eternity!

Family, the emphasis during this series is for us to pause for a moment and consider the tunnels, skyscrapers, bridges, GPS and outer space, AI and the Internet, medical innovations, and renewable energy.

If man can, what more can God do?

Let us truly reflect on these wonders and give God all the glory and praise for creation.

For in the beginning, there was nothing.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3 KJV.

Renewable Energy vs. God’s Endless Power Source. Is there really any comparison?!
